Congratulations on being selected to travel on the Tanzania: Understanding Sustainable Development travel program! This trip provides Deerfield students an opportunity to learn and work alongside the students and staff of the Mainsprings: Janada L. Batchelor Foundation for Children (JBFC), where founder Chris Gates and members of the local Tanzanian community have come together to develop a thriving school and home for children. By joining this program, you will have the privilege and responsibility of serving as an ambassador of Deerfield Academy, and we expect that you will return home with the skills and inspiration to make a positive change in your own communities.
Enrollment Process:

- Once you have read the resources, please contact us if you decide NOT to enroll.
- Complete the enrollment paperwork
- Please note: You will have to print, upload, and mail paperwork as part of this process. Thank you in advance!
- Complete payment
**Please note a visa will be required to travel to Tanzania. We will follow up with the necessary paperwork.
1. Review Resources to Make an Informed Decision
As you and your family consider your enrollment, please consult the following resources.

- Information about International SOS (ISOS), our travel medicine and security services provider
- If you would like to speak with a medical or security professional at ISOS about the trip, please contact the CSGC.
2. Complete Enrollment Paperwork
Once you have considered the above information with your parent/guardian and have decided to enroll, please download and complete with your parent/guardian the following forms, if you and your parent/guardian agree to all terms.
If you are choosing not to enroll, please let the Center for Service and Global Citizenship know as soon as possible.
All forms must be submitted by December 9.

- Deerfield Waiver: Deerfield Academy’s Agreement, Waiver, and Release of Liability Form for Tanzania
- Travel Health Questionnaire (This document should be mailed only)
2. Scan & Upload:
Once completed, please scan the following:
- Deerfield Waiver (Please Note: original with student & parent/guardian signatures needs to be mailed in as well)
- A color copy of your student Passport

3. Complete Mainsprings: JBFC Forms
- Download Mainsprings: JBFC School Group Student Handbook 2019 (Please make sure to read the handbook, and then complete the online forms at the end of the handbook found at: https://www.jotform.com/dbooren/mainspringsschooltripform)
4. Mail Forms:
Once previous steps have been completed, please mail the following original copies with ink signatures:

3. Complete Payment:
A non-refundable trip deposit, paid by check, your online student account, or wire transfer is due by December 9. Please see the invitation email for specific payment information, or contact the Center for Service and Global Citizenship Office with questions.
