Financial gifts allow us to retain outstanding faculty; make new library acquisitions and information resources possible; purchase laboratory and classroom equipment; improve student and athletic facilities; and expand financial aid, among other things. Gifts to Deerfield are direct investments in programs that benefit your children and contribute to the Academy’s overall efforts by creating an environment of participation.
Each year, parents of seniors generously underwrite a priority project at Deerfield. We are excited to announce that this year’s Senior Parent Gift will honor the Class of 2021 by supporting the construction of a new dormitory and naming the Student Game Room on the second floor.
Designed by award-winning firm ARC/Architectural Resources Cambridge, the two-story, 33,600-square-foot dormitory will be located prominently on campus next to the DeNunzio dorm, and will provide approximately 20 student rooms and four faculty apartments.
A distinguishing feature of Deerfield, and a cornerstone of this community, is our residential program, with nearly 570 boarding students living in 16 dormitories alongside faculty residents.
Time spent in the dorm fosters camaraderie and connection among students and between students and faculty. This has long been an essential element of the Deerfield Experience, and creates opportunities for students of different backgrounds to live and learn together while being mentored by devoted teachers.
The dormitory will not only provide living space for students, but will support a critical and ongoing need at Deerfield: attracting and retaining outstanding faculty. Increasingly, faculty members come to Deerfield with a spouse and children, and creating welcoming and adequate spaces for them is paramount. Our new dorm will go a long way to meeting this goal.
Perhaps the last new building to be constructed on the central campus in a decade, the dormitory will be a wonderful addition to Deerfield. We invite you to support this exciting project; additional information may be found here.
Commitments to the 2021 Senior Parent Gift may be paid over a five-year period, so we ask families to please consider a gift that is a multiple of their previous giving in support of the Academy. Please contact Julia Flannery (413-774-1593) or Diane Lively (413-774-1463) for more information or to make your gift.
It is a long-standing tradition at Deerfield that our senior parents come together each year to fund a special building project or endowment as a legacy of the graduating class.
Parents of ninth-graders, tenth-graders, and juniors provide unparalleled support to the Annual Fund. Deerfield parents Annual Giving always aims for 100% parent participation. We can only achieve this goal if everybody gives, so please consider your tax-deductible contribution today. No gift is too small and every gift is essential. Please contact Julia Flannery with any questions.
The cost of a Deerfield education is approximately $84,000 per student per year – meaning that all of our students are on some measure of financial aid. Our endowment is able to provide a significant proportion of the difference between this cost and tuition, but not all of it. With this, we ask parents and alumni to help support the school’s mission as generously as they are able.

The Deerfield Parents Network does not have a formal office. The network of parents, staff, and volunteers spans the globe.
